Lacy to Headline at Playboy Mansion

Share

For boxing fans attending shows at the Playboy Mansion, there is barely time for the fights. Not with all the Playmates to ogle, the hors d’oeuvres to sample and the grotto to explore.

Which makes tonight’s headline attraction, super-middleweight Jeff Lacy, the perfect Playboy fighter. Based on his performances, he doesn’t figure to be in the ring long, leaving plenty of time for the peripheral attractions.

As a member of the United States’ team in the 2000 Olympics, Lacy failed to medal. But he has yet to fail as a pro, going 14-0 with 12 knockouts. Using a vicious left hook and overwhelming power, Lacy has disposed of seven opponents in the first round and recorded the 12 knockouts within three rounds.

He has picked up two lesser titles, the World Boxing Council Continental Americas and United States Boxing Assn. championships, and hopes to add the North American Boxing Assn. super-middleweight crown tonight when he faces Richard Grant (14-9, two KOs) in the 12-round main event.

“How appropriate that I’m fighting at the Playboy Mansion,” Lacy said. “My titles seem to be multiplying like bunnies.”

Fortunately for Lacy, his punches are better than his punch lines.
