Man Killed by Officer in L.A. Apartment
A Los Angeles police officer shot and killed a man in a Hollywood apartment building Sunday after the man allegedly threatened the officer with a knife, a department spokesman said.
The officer went to the building in the 900 block of North Serrano Avenue about 6:25 p.m. in response to a report of a man exposing himself to young girls, Officer Don Cox said. When the officer went to the apartment, the man attempted to cut the officer with a knife, Cox said.
According to Cox, the officer fired his weapon and the man retreated and barricaded himself in his apartment. After attempting to negotiate a surrender, the LAPD’s SWAT team, using flash grenades, entered the apartment about 9:30 p.m. and found the man dead of gunshot wounds. Police and prosecutors are reviewing the shooting.
