Dontrelle Willis and his unusual delivery baffled the New York Mets.

Willis pitched a one-hitter to win his fifth straight start, and the Florida Marlins beat the Mets, 1-0, Monday night at Miami on a home run by Ivan Rodriguez.

Willis (6-1) gave up only a clean line-drive single to left field by Ty Wigginton with one out in the fourth inning.

“He has a funky delivery. His arm angle helps him and his pitch location was very good,” New York outfielder Jeromy Burnitz said of the rookie.

The demonstrative 21-year-old left-hander with a high leg kick has given up four earned runs in his last five starts. He drew a standing ovation as he came out for the ninth inning and was hugged by Rodriguez after the final out.

“I’m definitely going to enjoy this one,” Willis said. “They’re in our division, so whatever win we can get in our division is big.”

Willis outlasted veteran Tom Glavine, who gave up only five hits, including Rodriguez’s homer, in seven innings.

Chicago 4, Cincinnati 3 -- Moises Alou and Eric Karros hit consecutive homers in the sixth inning to lead the Cubs at Cincinnati.

Karros’ drive landed just beyond the fence in center field. Red center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. timed his jump and stretched his glove above it, missing the ball while smacking his right arm on the protective padding.

It was the hardest blow Griffey has taken since he dislocated his shoulder April 5 while diving for a fly ball in the outfield against the Cubs. Griffey cradled the arm briefly after hitting the wall, but he stayed in the game.

Milwaukee 9, St. Louis 4 -- Keith Osik hit a solo homer and a two-run double in the Brewers’ seven-run seventh inning at Milwaukee. Osik led off the seventh with his first homer since Aug. 21, 2002, and capped the club’s biggest inning this season with a two-run double.

San Diego 7, Colorado 5 -- Mark Loretta hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning against Jose Jimenez at Denver and the Padres won two in a row for the first time since April 23-25 when they won three in a row.
