From Staff Reports

Ronnie Gipson, who guided Los Angeles Verbum Dei to consecutive Southern Section boys’ basketball championships in two seasons as coach, will not have his contract renewed, Principal Benjamin Callaway said Tuesday.

“There were philosophical differences we couldn’t come to agreement on,” Callaway said.

Gipson had criticized Verbum Dei’s corporate work program, which required participation by every student and led to players missing practice and games. No replacement has been selected.
