Siena Beats Western Michigan, 68-62
Justin Miller had 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead Siena over Western Michigan, 68-62, in a first-round NIT game Sunday night at Albany, N.Y.
The Saints (21-10) led, 43-29, with 18:39 left before the Broncos went on a 25-10 run to take a 54-53 lead with 5:25 left.
Robby Collum made four of his six three-point baskets during the run.
Miller and Prosper Karangwa combined to score the Saints’ next 11 points as they went on a 13-2 run to clinch the win.
Siena made 24 of 37 free throws, including a 10-for-15 performance from Miller.
Western Michigan, on the other hand, had only seven free throw attempts. The Broncos made four.
Karangwa led the Saints with 25 points. Collum led the Broncos (20-11) with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Siena will play host to Alabama Birmingham (20-12) in a second-round game Tuesday night.
