Hearing for Thompkins Is Delayed

From Staff Reports

A pre-preliminary hearing scheduled Wednesday for former Rialto Eisenhower football coach Glenn Thompkins was delayed until June 10.

Thompkins’ case was held over because of new evidence presented by San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney Verna Carey in the state’s case against Thompkins, who is charged with 14 felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

A pre-preliminary hearing is a forum to settle the case before a preliminary hearing, typically by a plea bargain. Thompkins, 27, has pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of statutory rape, three counts of unlawful sexual penetration and one count of dissuading a witness.
