Miami Makes Change

Derrick Crudup will replace Brock Berlin as Miami’s starting quarterback against Syracuse on Saturday.

Crudup spent two seasons playing behind Ken Dorsey and nine games behind Berlin. Coach Larry Coker said Monday that Berlin would still play against the Orangemen.

Berlin has had 14 passes intercepted, has fumbled three times and has lost his last two starts. The 14th-ranked Hurricanes (7-2) are coming off losses to Virginia Tech and Tennessee.

Berlin, a junior, has completed 61.5% of his passes but has only nine touchdown passes. He has at least one turnover in eight of nine games.

Central Florida coach Mike Kruczek was fired and will be replaced by assistant Alan Gooch for the final two games.

Kruczek, who was with the program for 19 years, was not available for comment.

In the last week, Kruczek had suspended five players, including starting quarterback Ryan Schneider, for off-the-field problems.
