2 Charities Share in $1.75-Million Bequest
Two Bay Area charities are basking in the generosity of a Sausalito couple who had no known connections to either organization.
The Kent Rogers Kincaid Charitable Foundation in Lafayette was informed by a Los Angeles bank that the organization was a $750,000 beneficiary of the William L. and Marie F. Hynes family. A check arrived last month, foundation officials said.
The Hynes family also donated $1 million to the Redwoods Retirement Center in Mill Valley.
Executive Director Barbara Solomon said no one knows why the center was chosen, but that the money would go toward seismic and fire safety renovations.
