GIRLS’ TENNIS
Michelle Murphy and Leslie Bullock, Santa Ana Mater Dei: Freshmen swept at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and teamed to sweep at No. 1 doubles, leading the Monarchs (6-0), ranked No. 8 in the Southland by The Times, to a 10-0 victory over two-time defending Nevada 4-A champion Bishop Gorman (9-1) in the first round of the three-team, round-robin Bishop Gorman/Bonanza tournament in Las Vegas.
Brooke Robertson and Melanie Miller, Santa Barbara: Swept at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-1, 6-1, to lead the No. 10 Dons (5-2) to a 12-6 nonleague victory over North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, which was led by Natasha Brown, who swept her No. 1 singles matches, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Stephen Blount and Ryan Pellerin, Mission Viejo: Blount had four goals and Pellerin had 11 saves in an 8-6 victory over Huntington Beach in the Villa Park tournament.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Stephanie Brandt, Irvine University: Had 33 assists in a 25-12, 25-11, 20-25, 25-18 nonleague victory over Etiwanda.
Kristin Kelley and Lisa Jutsum, Pasadena La Salle: Kelley had 26 kills and Jutsum had 45 assists in a 25-15, 25-19, 13-25, 23-25, 15-12 nonleague victory over Flintridge Sacred Heart.
