Doba Suspends Derting

Linebacker Will Derting, Washington State’s leading tackler, was suspended Tuesday after he was cited for driving under the influence following the Cougars’ 30-7 victory Saturday over Arizona, Coach Bill Doba said.

Doba said Derting will remain on suspension until an investigation of the incident is completed. He said he didn’t know how long the suspension would last.

Former Nebraska defensive end Chad Kelsay is facing charges of trespassing and disturbing the peace after he allegedly ate food off other people’s trays last weekend at a restaurant in Lincoln, Neb. According to Capt. David Beggs, Kelsay was “extremely intoxicated.” Witnesses said after Kelsay ate food off of other people’s trays, he pulled up a chair in front of the salsa bar and began eating directly from the bar.
