Fire Warnings Are Nothing to Snicker At

Re “It Looked Good on Paper,” Editorial, Oct. 10:
Your editorial does a disservice to our community and to our children’s safety. Ridiculing and minimizing the inherent hazards of combustible material, even if that material is children’s schoolwork, detracts from people’s awareness of fire safety.
Let me shed some light on this subject. Paper can burn. Paper hanging on walls will burn easier (faster) than the same amount of paper in a stack on a desk. The faster the spread of fire in a classroom, the fewer people get out. People who don’t get out of burning buildings die.
I will do all that I can to ensure that people don’t die on my watch.
