Zwan song: Singer-guitarist Billy Corgan told a TV interviewer in Chicago that Zwan, the band he formed after the breakup of Smashing Pumpkins, also has broken up. He said he plans to work solo.

“Rings” on display: The eye-popping special effects in the “Lord of the Rings” movies went on display as their own exhibit at London’s Science Museum on Tuesday and already is the most successful show in the venue’s history, thanks to the advance sale of 14,000 tickets.

TV statues: After erecting statues to “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in Minneapolis and to “The Honeymooners” in New York, cable’s TV Land channel said Tuesday that it has commissioned one to commemorate “The Andy Griffith Show.” The statue, which will be unveiled Oct. 28 in Raleigh, N.C., will feature the father-and-son characters portrayed in the series by Griffith and Ron Howard.
