1 Killed, 1 in Critical Condition After Shootout

One man was dead and another man was in critical condition, and expected to die, after a Lancaster shootout early Saturday, authorities said.

The shootings in the 44100 block of Engle Way were reported shortly after midnight after an unidentified man drove into the parking lot of an apartment building and was confronted by three men, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy David Cervantes. An argument led to gunfire, he said.

The driver, who was shot in the upper body, was taken to a hospital, where his death was considered imminent, authorities said. One of the men in the parking lot later turned up in a hospital with a bullet wound and died, Cervantes said.
