As Ventura County authorities searched for two male suspects, the victims of a double homicide whose bodies were found near Cal State Channel Islands over the weekend were identified Sunday as a married couple from Kern County.

Alexander Lee Jordan, 24, and his wife, Cynthia, 22, of Taft, Calif., both died of gunshot wounds, said Senior Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Buschow.

Neither victim was a student at the university.

Campus police discovered the bodies off a private roadway in a remote area just west of the university grounds about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officers were responding to a report about suspicious activity in the area.

“The time of death was shortly before officers arrived at the scene,” Buschow said. “It was a fairly fresh scene.”

They are looking for two men believed to be traveling in the couple’s 2002 white Chevy Impala, California license number 5EXV233, Buschow said.

Authorities declined to give out details about the case. But they said the shootings were unrelated to another homicide involving a gunshot victim whose body was found early Saturday on a roadside several miles away.

Anyone with information about the double homicide is asked to call the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department at (805) 654-2311.
