Yorvit Torrealba didn’t want to make eye contact with his former teammate until he circled the bases.

Torrealba hit a tiebreaking home run in the eighth inning against former San Francisco reliever Felix Rodriguez, leading the Giants over the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-6, Saturday.

“I didn’t want to look at his face. I’d probably laugh,” Torrealba said of Rodriguez, traded to the Phillies for outfielder Ricky Ledee last month. “It was weird. You play with a guy for so long. I’d like to see him do good, just not against us.”

Cody Ransom, Dustan Mohr and Marquis Grissom also homered for the Giants, who have won three in a row for the first time in a month. They moved to within 6 1/2 games of the National League West Division-leading Dodgers. They are one game behind Chicago in the wild-card race.

Placido Polanco hit a two-run homer for the Phillies, who lost for the fifth time in six home games despite overcoming a 5-0 deficit. They fell eight games behind East Division-leading Atlanta and 4 1/2 games behind Chicago.

The injury-plagued Phillies, already without Pat Burrell and David Bell in their lineup, didn’t have slugger Jim Thome, who didn’t play because of a right shoulder injury.

“Our hands are tied,” Manager Larry Bowa said. “We’re a little short. But there’s nothing you can do about it. Bite your lip and be a man.”

Jason Christiansen (2-2) got two outs in the seventh. Jim Brower pitched the eighth, and Dustin Hermanson finished for his second save.

Torrealba put the Giants ahead when his one-out fly ball against Rodriguez (4-6) carried into the left-field seats at Citizens Bank Park.

“In another ballpark, that’s probably a pop-up to left field, but I’ll take it,” Torrealba said.

Barry Bonds, who hit his 689th career homer Friday night, pinch-hit after Torrealba’s homer and was intentionally walked for the 87th time this season, his 166th walk overall.
