Meteoric Rises Out of Time Off

Share

Meteoric will make his first start since finishing second in the Los Alamitos Winter Challenge in tonight’s eighth, a $12,250 allowance race at 350 yards.

Trained by Paul Jones for a partnership, the 4-year-old Chicks Beduino gelding hasn’t been out since losing by a nose to Buccaneer Beach in February. A winner of 12 of 18 and more than $551,000, the Idaho-bred will leave from post four in the field of five and will be ridden by Ramon Sanchez.

Among the horses Meteoric will have to beat are Pats Charming Guy and Royal Prosity, who finished 1-2 in the Independence Day last month. Owned and trained by Patricia Visscher, Pats Charming Guy prevailed by a head in 15.36 seconds for the 300 yards while winning for the fourth time in his career. Eddie Garcia will ride Pats Charming Guy, and Alex Bautista will handle Royal Prosity for trainer Jesus Nunez.
