Bull Market Hits Road

Share

Bull Market, who has raced only seven times but in three states, will add New York to his resume in today’s seventh at Saratoga.

Owned by Jim McIngvale and trained by Bob Baffert, the 4-year-old Holy Bull colt has won in California and Kentucky and finished fourth in his only appearance in Illinois. He finished behind stablemates Vindication and Kafwain in the 2002 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

Second as the 2-5 favorite in his last start at Churchill Downs on June 3, Bull Market will be reunited with jockey Jerry Bailey. They teamed to win April 30 at Churchill, prevailing by 2 1/4 lengths over a sloppy surface.

In today’s race, a $49,000 allowance at six furlongs, Bull Market, will be racing five rivals -- Thunder Touch, Race For Glory, All Hail Stormy, Cat Buster and Dandoon.

Thunder Touch, All Hail Stormy and Cat Buster are all coming off wins.

Race of the day: Lucayan Beauty, who won the first time she was dropped into a claiming race, returns at the $50,000 level in today’s seventh at Del Mar after being claimed by trainer Rafael Becerra.

Tyler Baze will ride the 3-year-old Marju filly in the one-mile turf race. Normandy Princess, Green Queen, Free Rent, Bettys Tribute, Smokegetenyoureyes, Black Lace Sam, Scrofa, Allegedly and Irish Ides complete the field.

One for the road: Trainer Bobby Frankel has been winning with more than his share of first-time starters the last couple of years and he could strike with another today in the sixth at Saratoga. La Danielle is a daughter of Danzig debuting in a rather weak maiden race at one mile on the grass. Edgar Prado will ride.

Exotically speaking: A pick three using Harry Bailey and Poor Man’s Battle in the third, Kid Royal, Magical Dust and Bancho in the fourth and the My Boy Joey entry, True Stride and Tellmeitsnotso in the fifth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 2/56. Money: Previous day/meet total: $8.20/$302. Total money bet: $394.
