Police Seek Help in Attack Cases

Long Beach police investigating five shooting incidents involving residents of Cambodian descent said Wednesday that they had witness reports on young men near the crime scenes but needed help on whether the men had been involved or had been bystanders.

The shooting incidents in which further witnesses are needed are as follows:

* March 24, 2003, at 12:45 p.m., near Bixby Road and Cherry Avenue. Two young men sitting in a parked car were shot, one fatally.

* Dec. 4, 2003, at 9 p.m. Someone fired a gun into an occupied residence of Cambodians in the 1300 block of Olive Avenue. Nobody was injured.

* Dec. 19, 2003, at 9:20 p.m. An 18-year-old was shot and killed at the rear alley in the 1000 block of Atlantic Avenue.

* Dec. 31, 2003, at 2:45 p.m. A 20-year-old was shot to death while driving near Orange Avenue and 15th Street.

* Jan. 1, 2004, at 11:55 p.m. A 22-year-old was found in his car with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died.
