Battle Lifts Connecticut

Ashley Battle had 15 points and five steals and No. 2-ranked Connecticut defeated Pittsburgh, 97-42, Tuesday night at Hartford, Conn.

The Huskies, 21-2 overall and 11-1 in the Big East, who have won 10 in a row, emptied the bench late in the first half. The reserves accounted for 56 points.

Katie Histed and Jennifer Brown each had 12 points for the Panthers (6-17, 2-11), who have lost nine in a row.

Liz Sherwood, Connecticut’s reserve freshmen center, scored a career-high 14 points. Diana Taurasi had 11 points.

No. 9 Texas Tech 73, Missouri 68 -- Chesley Dabbs scored 14 points and Erin Grant made a driving shot with 11 seconds left to secure the victory at Columbia, Mo.

The Lady Raiders (22-4, 8-4 Big 12) had to hold on after leading by 14 points with less than 12 minutes to play. Missouri (13-10, 4-8) cut the deficit to 69-68 with 1:24 to play.
