Single-Engine Plane Crashes Into Mt. Pinos
Times staff and wire reports
A small plane crashed into a mountain late Friday, but there was no immediate word on survivors.
The single-engine plane was heading to Sacramento when air-traffic controllers lost contact with it shortly after 9 p.m.
A short time later, a hunter reported seeing a plane crash into Mt. Pinos, west of Frazier Park, Sheriff’s Sgt. Chevy Garza said.
It was not known how many people were aboard the plane.
Icy roads, snow and wind hampered emergency crews en route to the site.
