Cory Violette scored 21 points to lead five Gonzaga players in double figures and the No. 16-ranked Bulldogs overpowered Montana, 88-67, Sunday night at Spokane, Wash.

Gonzaga (10-2) won for the third time in seven days. Montana (3-9) lost its eighth consecutive game.

Kamarr Davis, the Grizzlies’ leading scorer, had 13 points before fouling out with 11:18 left in the game as Montana’s aggressive play on defense failed to pay off.

Dunks by Ronny Turiaf and Violette highlighted a 10-2 run that gave Gonzaga a 41-25 lead. The Bulldogs led, 43-30, at halftime, behind Violette’s 15 points.

Texas Tech 80, Ohio State 72 -- The Red Raiders (12-2), led by Andre Emmett’s 27 points, gave Bob Knight a victory over the Buckeyes (8-5) in his return to his alma mater.

Knight had not led a team into Columbus since the next-to-last team of his 29 seasons at Indiana was beaten, 73-56, five years ago -- his most lopsided loss against the school from which he graduated in 1962.

Fresno State 69, Hawaii 58 -- The Bulldogs (5-5) ended the Rainbows’ winning streak at six in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams late Saturday night in Honolulu.

Fresno State limited Hawaii (8-3) to two field goals and five free throws in the final 7:15.
