Trainers Jones, McArthur Dominate Field

Two trainers will saddle five of the six horses in tonight’s $26,550 Denim N Diamonds Handicap.

Paul Jones will send out Cash For Kas, In His Dreams and Rubiate. Donna McArthur’s representatives in the 350-yard race will be Make It Work and Long Stemmed Roses.

The only runner is Jabonerita Chicks, trained by Roberto Dominguez and fresh off a nose loss to Equals Six three weeks ago.

Owned by Ed Calvert, Cash For Kas finished third at 10-1 in the Los Alamitos Million, capping a year during which she won two of seven. Ramon Sanchez will ride.

Make It Work, a 3-year-old daughter of First Down Dash, was third at 10-1 in the Los Alamitos Million Consolation on Dec. 12 in her most recent appearance.

Long Stemmed Roses, owned by Double Bar S Ranch, was sixth in the Consolation, In His Dreams is perfect in two starts and Rubiate was worse than third only once in six races in 2003.

Shots in the dark: Phine And Dandy gets jockey Alex Bautista for his local debut in the fifth. A Pizza For Nick makes his first start for trainer Angela Aquino in the sixth.
