Brett Favre dropped out of the Pro Bowl on Wednesday, and was replaced by his former backup in Green Bay, Matt Hasselbeck.

Hasselbeck, the Seattle Seahawk quarterback, and center Mike Flanagan, Favre’s Green Bay Packer teammate, were selected for the game, scheduled for Feb. 8 in Honolulu.

Favre won’t play because of the broken thumb he dealt with for much of the season.

Flanagan replaces center Olin Kreutz of the Chicago Bears, who has a bruised knee and sprained ankle.

Terry Shea was selected offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears after spending the last three seasons as quarterback coach of the high-scoring Kansas City Chiefs.

Shea, 57, is the third coach hired by new Coach Lovie Smith, joining Pete Hoener (offensive line) and Bob Babich (linebackers).

Bobby April was hired by the Buffalo Bills as their special teams coach. April, fired by the St. Louis Rams earlier this month, has 13 years of NFL coaching experience. He is the latest addition to a staff being put together by new Coach Mike Mularkey.
