Washington State point guard Marcus Moore contends that the Washington Huskies have hurt themselves by focusing too much of their recruiting on hometown players.

Unfortunately for Moore and the Cougars, Washington’s Seattle players looked right at home in Pullman in a 75-62 Husky victory Saturday night.

The four leading scorers for Washington (7-8, 2-5 Pacific 10) are all from Seattle.

Nate Robinson led the Huskies with 17 points, a career-high five three-point baskets and four assists.

Will Conroy added 14 points, Tre Simmons had 10 points and nine rebounds, and Brandon Roy had nine points and matched his career high with 12 rebounds.

“Guys were sharing the ball, playing with smiles on their faces. It was fun,” said Robinson, who made his first start in 10 games.

“I mean, when we play like that, I don’t think we can be beat.”

Jeff Varem led Washington State (8-9, 2-5) with 14 points. The Cougars’ third straight loss dropped them below .500 for the first time this season.

“We’ve hit the skids, and I don’t have answers, to be very candid with you,” Washington State Coach Dick Bennett said. “We appear to be very soft and disorganized.

“If I was an observer, I would think that’s a poor team, and that’s a poorly coached team.”

Arizona State 83, Oregon State 79 -- Ike Diogu had 24 points and 15 rebounds -- scoring in double figures for the national-high 48th consecutive time, and Stevie Moore and Jamal Hill made key free throws down the stretch to lead the Sun Devils (8-8, 2-5) at Tempe, Ariz.

In all, Hill had 17 points in the victory, only the Sun Devils’ second in eight games, but their sixth in a row at home against the Beavers.

David Lucas had a career-high 27 points for Oregon State (8-9, 2-5). Chris Stephens scored 11 and J.S. Nash 10.

The Beavers made up a nine-point deficit in the second half to lead, 74-70, with 4:14 left.

Moore gave the Sun Devils an 81-77 lead with his two free throws with 31.6 seconds remaining.

After Nash drove for a dunk, Hill made his two free throws with 15.1 seconds left.
