Prima Ld Goes for Seventh Victory in a Row

Prima Ld, who hasn’t run since Nov. 3, will try for her seventh win in a row in tonight’s seventh, a $12,250 allowance at 350 yards.

Owned by Antonio Fernandez Chedragui and trained by Jaime Gomez, Prima Ld, after making 11 starts in Mexico, made her Los Alamitos debut with a nose win in the Bay Legend Challenge Championship, edging Coronas Prospect.

A winner of nine of 12, Prima Ld will break from post three in the field of five and will be ridden by Hector Cuevas.

Her rivals include Shake Em Rita Ballou, Special Fast Lady, Special Queen Sa and Macumba Royal Hemp.

A 4-year-old Strawfly Special filly, Special Queen Sa is also trained by Gomez. She has won five of 15 and has been off the board only four times in her career.

Shake Em Rita Ballou, another Gomez trainee, was fourth in her first start of 2004 on June 17 and should improve, Special Fast Lady was last at 40-1 when last seen nearly 10 months ago and Macumba Royal Hemp was third at 5-1 on June 18.

Four! Lucky Colours and Marotta in the first, Orestes and Run Mickey Run in the second, all in the third and Flying Fugitive in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Rita’s Rally is a first-time starter for trainer Juan Aleman in the sixth. A Classic Pie could fire fresh for trainer Blane Schvaneveldt in the eighth.
