Soccer Player Fatally Shot by Driver, Police Say
From Times Staff Reports
A driver fatally shot a man whose soccer ball struck his passing vehicle late Friday, authorities said.
The victim, who was not identified, was playing soccer with friends in the 9500 block of Laurel Street, when his ball hit the vehicle, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Luis Castro.
The driver argued with the players then left the scene, Castro said. He returned a short time later and fired a gun into the crowd. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
