A missing UCLA student boarded a bus in Anaheim and got off in Los Angeles to transfer to another bus, a Metropolitan Transportation Authority driver confirmed for police Tuesday.

Ahmad Yaseen Arain, 20, vanished Friday while traveling by bus from his family’s home in Orange to an appointment with his academic advisor at the university.

Nancy Greenstein, a spokeswoman for the University of California police, said the bus driver told investigators that he remembered Arain boarding the bus in Anaheim and disembarking at a transfer station near Manchester Avenue and the Harbor Freeway.

A UCLA-bound bus departs from the transfer station, Greenstein said.

Greenstein said university police had asked several federal agencies, including immigration authorities, and none of them had Arain in custody.

Arain’s mother said he was born in Pakistan, immigrated to the United States as an infant and is a U.S. citizen.

Members of his family announced a $10,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to Arain’s safe return.
