Koskie Lifts Twins Past Indians, 4-3

Corey Koskie hit a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning, lifting the Minnesota Twins over the Cleveland Indians, 4-3, Friday night at Minneapolis.

The Central Division-champion Twins hope to begin the playoffs at home. If they beat the Indians today and Sunday, and the Angels and Oakland avoid a sweep in their three-game series, they would play host to Boston in Game 1 on Tuesday.

Boston 8, Baltimore 3 -- The Red Sox trailed, 2-1, before rallying against the Oriole bullpen for two runs in the top of the seventh inning and five in the ninth. The victory enabled them to reach 96 wins for the first time since 1978.

Tampa Bay 4, Detroit 1 -- For the first time in their history, the Devil Rays, who began play in 1998, won’t finish last. They won at Detroit to improve to 69-90 and cannot be overtaken in the East by Toronto (66-93).

Toronto 7, New York 0 -- David Bush (5-4) pitched a two-hitter, and the Blue Jays won at Toronto. Bush, making his 16th major league start, struck out 11.

Chicago 4, Kansas City 2 -- Jon Garland (12-11) pitched six solid innings at Kansas City, Mo., and the White Sox clinched second place in the Central Division.
