SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

After months of delay, San Bernardino County announced Tuesday that it had completed the installation and testing of a telephone emergency warning system to alert residents about fires and flood emergencies.

The system can dial all the known phone numbers in the county’s mountain areas and many desert and foothill communities, including Hesperia, Phelan and Pinion Hills. them A recorded message alerts residents to the danger.

The Sheriff’s Department will have the responsibility of activating the system, which will be able to dial 500 phone numbers simultaneously. The system will ring the phone six times before it hangs up, but it can leave a message on an answering machine.
