Van Passenger Is Killed in Collision on 5 Freeway
A North Hollywood woman was killed Friday when the van in which she was riding rear-ended a tow truck aiding a stranded motorist on the Santa Ana Freeway.
Police did not release the 67-year-old woman’s name.
The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. in the northbound carpool lane just north of Grand Avenue.
The tow truck was moving into position to help the motorist, California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada said.
The driver of the van sustained moderate injuries. The tow truck driver received a minor bump on the head.
