Johnny Ramone, they salute you

The scene’s still reeling from the recent passing of Ramones guitarist Johnny Ramone, who was fondly remembered by Velvet Revolver on Sunday night. The group, hired to perform at TV Guide’s Emmy party in L.A., paid tribute to Johnny with a headbanging rendition of the Ramones classic “I Wanna Be Sedated.” In the crowd were Diana Ross, Famke Janssen and Melissa Rivers (not seen moshing).... The best way to tell if a scene is hot? The A-list doorman, of course. Famed velvet roper Steven Harlow’s weekly lineup of duties is dizzying. Mondays you’ll find him at the Roxy’s Metal Skool show; on Tuesday, he works at the upscale bar Monroe’s; Wednesdays he is stationed at the Comedy Store, where power-promoter Shane Powers is hosting a new night; on Fridays the scene is at Guy’s on Beverly Boulevard; and Saturday he’s working the angles at Dolce. We look forward to the memoirs.

Cornering Morrissey

We hear the elusive Morrissey might be making an appearance at the Knitting Factory’s Nancy Sinatra performance on Oct. 15. Her new self-titled album is on Morrissey’s Attack Records, and the recording’s guest stars include Moz himself, members of U2, Pete Yorn, Thurston Moore, Steve Van Zandt and Jon Spencer.... Looking for a little sex in the city tonight? Head to the El Rey Theater for tonight’s “Iconoclast” show featuring the barely clad babes of the Velvet Hammer burlesque troupe. Dress code suggests “genteel attire for the conscientious socialite.” Don’t know about you, but I’ve seen how socialites dress and it’s hardly genteel.... And speaking of socialites, Nicole Richie celebrates her 23rd birthday with a Brent Bolthouse-hosted “Speakeasy.” The flapper-themed event takes place on Saturday at club Fame at Xes in Hollywood.... If you tell me you don’t like Mondays, I might just have the remedy. Head to the Bigfoot Lodge in Los Feliz for Rock ‘n’ Roll Karaoke and watch those blues turn red-hot.

It’s time to get your game on

Vidiots will be ecstatic to learn a music festival designed just for them is coming to San Bernardino. On Oct. 2, Supercade hits the NOS Events Center at Orange Pavilion and it’s an all-day nirvana for arcade lovers. The event offers more than 150 arcade games -- from classics to cutting-edge -- and performances by such bands as Strung Out, the Aquabats, Death by Stereo and Throwrag.... L.A.’s mod squad is counting the days till Brit popsters Supergrass hit town for an Oct. 7 performance at the Avalon in Hollywood.... New York’s finest gutter punks, the Casualties, hit L.A. for the Punx Unite Tour, which takes place at the Key Club in West Hollywood on Oct. 8 and the Vault 350 in Long Beach on Oct. 9.... “Surreal Life” mack daddy Flava Flav is playing the Key Club on Saturday in his first ever solo gig, and I’m just dying to ask him, “What’s the time?”
