Adam Dunn’s second home run tied the score in the ninth inning, and Joe Randa followed with a homer against Braden Looper that gave the Cincinnati Reds a 7-6 victory over the New York Mets on Monday in front of 42,794, the biggest crowd in Great American Ball Park.

Pedro Martinez struck out 12 and gave up only one hard-hit ball -- Dunn’s three-run homer -- in six innings in his debut with the Mets. Carlos Beltran had three hits, including one of the Mets’ three homers, to help New York to a 6-3 lead.

The Mets committed $172 million to Martinez and Beltran, giving the New York Yankees a run for their money in the off-season.

After Dunn’s first homer, Martinez relied on a 94-mph fastball and a sharp breaking ball to strike out 12 of the last 14 batters he faced.

Martinez became the fourth pitcher with 100 double-digit strikeout games, joining Nolan Ryan (215), Randy Johnson (204) and Roger Clemens (108).
