2 Hospitalized After Ammonia Leak
An ammonia leak at a Santa Ana ice supplier Wednesday morning prompted the evacuation of dozens of employees, two of whom were hospitalized, fire officials said.
One worker suffered burns on his arm and a second complained of shortness of breath after inhaling fumes, said Santa Ana Fire Capt. Dave Thomas. Neither of the workers was identified.
The leak was discovered shortly after 10 a.m. by workers repairing a 3,000-gallon ammonia tank at the Diamond Newport Ice Co., in the 1100 block of Walnut Street, Thomas said.
