From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A high-speed police chase on freeways that crisscrossed San Bernardino and Riverside counties Monday ended peacefully after spike strips shredded the tires of the suspect’s pickup.

David Dean, a 31-year-old from Palm Desert, fled from police after allegedly firing a handgun from his truck in Murrieta, said police Sgt. Robert Landwehr. He led police and the California Highway Patrol on a chase along Interstate 15, the 91 Freeway and the 60 Freeway.

After hitting the spike strips, his truck stopped on the Pomona Freeway and he surrendered. He was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm from a moving vehicle and felony evading.
