* Pacific Gas & Electric Co. was fined $96,000 by the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission for losing spent nuclear fuel at its Humboldt Bay Power Plant in Northern California. The utility, a unit of San Francisco-based PG&E; Corp., said in July 2004 that it couldn’t find three 18-inch nuclear fuel rod segments. The segments probably were shipped to a waste disposal site and were unlikely to pose a public risk, the commission said.
* Resources Connection Inc. of Costa Mesa, which provides accounting and other professional services, reported that fiscal second-quarter net income rose 2.5% to $16 million, or 31 cents a share, as sales rose 15% from a year earlier to $158.1 million.
