Kings Keep Edge Over the Nuggets

Peja Stojakovic scored 27 points, Mike Bibby had 18 and the short-handed Kings extended the Nuggets’ losing streak at Sacramento to 17 games, beating Denver, 109-100, Tuesday night.

Rookie Kevin Martin had 11 of his career-high 17 points in the second quarter for the Kings, who had only nine players available. Chris Webber sat out because of a sore left knee, and the Kings also were without new acquisitions Cuttino Mobley and Michael Bradley, obtained in Monday’s trade for Doug Christie.

Andre Miller had 16 points and 11 assists for the Nuggets, who lost their fifth in a row and 11th in 12 games. The Nuggets also dropped to 1-5 under interim Coach Michael Cooper.

Indiana 86, Memphis 85 -- Jermaine O’Neal capped a 35-point game with two free throws with 4.6 seconds left at Memphis, Tenn., to help end the Grizzlies’ six-game winning streak.

Memphis had a chance to win, but Pau Gasol missed on a drive. Gasol had 31 points.

Detroit 89, New Jersey 80 -- Rasheed Wallace had 19 points to help the Pistons extend their road winning streak to six. Vince Carter had 19 points for the Nets.

Cleveland 100, Charlotte 98 -- Drew Gooden scored nine of the Cavaliers’ final 15 points, including seven in overtime, to help lift them at Cleveland.

LeBron James had 29 points and led Cleveland’s rally from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to its fifth win in a row.

Atlanta 103, Milwaukee 80 -- Tyronn Lue scored a season-high 18 points to lead seven double-figure scorers at Atlanta in helping the Hawks end a six-game losing streak.

Buck center Dan Gadzuric played only six minutes before he was taken to a hospital, complaining of stomach pain. He was later discharged.

New Orleans 88, New York 82 -- Baron Davis had 21 points and 10 assists at New York to lead the Hornets (4-29) to their first two-game winning streak of the season. New Orleans also ended a 15-game road losing streak.
