To live, and especially die, in L.A.

Scott Michaels knows where the bodies are buried. Michaels, the man behind the late Grave Line Tours, has started a new excursion through Tinseltown’s darker side, Dearly Departed Tours, a.k.a. the Tragical History Tour.

Recommended for adults only, because of content and language, Dearly Departed is a 2 1/2 -hour excursion to 100 fateful locations, including the Manson murders mansion and the gas station where James Dean picked up his Porsche Spyder less than 12 hours before his death on Sept. 30, 1955.

Other spots include George Michael’s “restroom” stop complete with a copy of his arrest report, and the “last gasp” sites of the likes of Frank Sinatra, River Phoenix and “Gilligan’s Island’s” Alan Hale Jr.

Michaels also operates a deliciously sordid website called www.findadeath.com.

The “tomb buggy” departs Thursday through Sunday from Hollywood Boulevard at 1 p.m. (A 9:30 a.m. tour is added when needed.)

Tickets (www.dearlydepartedtours.com) are $35, and, interest in Hollywood’s grimmer tales being what it is, reservations are strongly recommended.
