All the news that fits ...

Joel Pett is the Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist of the Lexington Herald-Leader. His work also appears in USA Today.

No summer news void yet. Last week, Lance Armstrong recycled, Big Labor managed a new level of disorganization, NASA successfully launched another grounding, the Central American free-trade agreement slipped through the House and the energy bill finally passed, with both sides admitting it won’t help our foreign oil dependence.

The CIA leak still bubbled in D.C., Democrats peeked under John Roberts’ robes, London police copped to a tragic shooting and the “war on terror” underwent an Orwellian makeover, becoming the “global struggle against violent extremism.” (Look for the Iraq war to morph into the “quest undertaken against godless maniacs igniting remote explosives.” The acronym works, anyway.)

Cartoonists, after showing authorities the contents of our pencil boxes, have been riding familiar conveyances: Plame, trains and automobiles.
