These Two Mares Stand Out

A pair of sharp 5-year-old mares will get together in the $62,000 Exotic Wood tonight at Hollywood Park.

Getthepartystarted, who has won three of her last five, and Starkay, who has won two straight, head the field of six in the 5 1/2 -furlong turf race.

Owned by Baja Racing Stable and trained by Jenine Sahadi, Getthepartystarted, a daughter of Game Plan, has not been worse than third since being claimed for $50,000 on Nov. 12. She won by a neck at 5-2 on the turf course May 4. She will again be ridden by Jose Valdivia Jr.

Starkay, a New Zealand-bred trained by Roger Stein for owner Ross McLeod, has won twice since May 5, going wire to wire over this layout both times. Jon Court will ride.

The field is completed by Navaja, who is also trained by Stein and making her first start since Jan. 27; Turf Paradise shipper Fun’ngames Toknite; Very Vegas, who has six of 10, and longshot Irgunette, who is 0 for 7 since joining Nick Hines’ barn.

Race of the day: Who’s Cozy, a 4 1/4 -length winner against maidens in her first start of the year May 6, heads a field of six 3-year-old fillies scheduled to go one mile on the grass in today’s eighth at Belmont Park. Jose Santos will ride Who’s Cozy, a daughter of Cozzene, for owner Richard Golden and trainer Linda Rice in the $46,000 allowance.

One for the road: Boot Hill’s claiming price is doubled as he runs in search of his eighth career win in today’s third at Churchill Downs. The 8-year-old gelding, who won by 2 1/4 lengths over the track on May 18, steps up to the $10,000 level for the Robert S. Mitchell Trust and trainer Randy Morse in the 6 1/2 -furlong race. Eddie Martin Jr. will ride.

Exotically speaking: A place pick all using Skipping Court in the first, Valid’s Valid and Classical Lady in the second, Powerful Sister, Legitimate Threat and Las Vegas Player in the third, My Dear Jazz in the fourth, Sexy Saint in the fifth, Honor Spirit, Celtic Way and Mysterious Peace in the sixth, Getthepartystarted in the seventh and Sprink and Ribomoon in the eighth.
