Heavyweight Fight: Robinson vs. Scioscia

Frank Robinson, you are in the Hall of Fame. You got plunked, hanging over the plate, more than David Eckstein could imagine. You swatted homers in many uniforms against all comers. MVP in both leagues.

The Brendan Donnelly dust-up makes you look bush league. A tough, tied ballgame and you went to the rule book to rattle (and eject) a struggling reliever. I hope that Mike Scioscia called you a busher for trying to take the game away from the players and the fans.

I love my Angels and Mike Scioscia, but I feel Mike is being hypocritical in his defense of Brendan Donnelly. Scioscia is quoted as saying he realizes Donnelly used an illegal substance, but seemingly justifies it by also saying using pine tar is an “accepted practice in the game.”

Really? What part of “illegal substance” does Mike not understand?
