Sales Reaches a Milestone in Victory

Nykesha Sales’ milestone performance helped the Connecticut Sun remain perfect at home Tuesday night.

Sales scored 19 points to become the ninth player in WNBA history to reach 3,000 for her career, and the Sun beat the Sacramento Monarchs, 70-66, at Uncasville, Conn.

The Sun (11-2) improved to 5-0 at home. DeMya Walker had 16 points for the Monarchs (9-4).

Washington 66, Charlotte 61 -- Chasity Melvin scored seven of her 15 points in overtime to lead the Mystics (7-7) past the Sting (2-10) for their fourth victory in five games. Washington won despite blowing a 15-point lead in the first half and a five-point edge with 37.9 seconds left in regulation.

Tangela Smith scored 13 points for the Sting.

Minnesota 63, San Antonio 53 -- Vanessa Hayden scored 17 points to lead the Lynx (8-6) past the Silver Stars (3-12) at Minneapolis. Rookie Katie Feenstra had 16 points for San Antonio.

Houston 71, Seattle 67 -- Sheryl Swoopes scored 21 points at Houston and the Comets (7-5) beat the Storm (7-7) for their third victory in a row.

Reserve Suzy Batkovik had 16 points for the Storm.
