Share

The election in the city of Los Angeles is Tuesday. The race for mayor has received the most attention, but eight City Council seats are also up for election.

A mayoral candidate must get more than 50% of the vote to win outright. Otherwise, the two who receive the most votes will compete in a run-off election May 17.

Those who have not yet registered for next week’s election cannot vote Tuesday; they will have until May 2 to register for the run-off. To request a registration form by mail, call (800) 481-8683. Online registration is available at the California secretary of state website: www.ss.ca.gov/elections/votereg1.html.
