Former NFL Player Is Arrested After Car Chase
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Former National Football League defensive back Darryll Lamont Lewis was arrested Monday after a televised chase, police said.
Five California Highway Patrol officers wrestled Lewis to the ground after the pursuit that ended outside his parents’ West Covina home. The 20-minute chase reportedly began after Lewis was spotted committing an alleged car-pool violation.
Lewis played with the Houston/Tennessee Oilers from 1991-1998 and was chosen to play in the Pro Bowl after the 1995 season.
