Golden Globes: Anthony Hopkins, star of such films as “The Silence of the Lambs,” “Nixon” and “The Remains of the Day,” will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 16, the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. announced Wednesday.

New Year’s Eve: Regis Philbin, who rang in the new year on ABC last year, will do the honors for Fox this year, hosting “New Year’s Eve Live” from Times Square in New York City.

He’s back: Danny DeVito will join the cast of the FX comedy “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” next season, his first regular job on a TV series since leaving “Taxi” in 1983.
