The MTA’s parking problem
Re “A Jump in Transit Ridership? Look to Cost of Gas, Gas, Gas,” Sept. 28
When MTA officials opened the Red Line, they neglected to provide enough parking at the North Hollywood station. I initially tried to take the subway once or twice a week. As ridership increased, parking became more and more difficult. In order to get a space, you had to get there before 7:30 a.m. Now it is impossible to find a space unless you arrive before 7 a.m. or have reserved a space. The 10-hour meters are gone because of construction all around the station. The MTA miscalculated in not providing sufficient parking. Now the MTA should build a parking structure if it truly wants people to get out of their cars and take public transportation. Doing half a job just doesn’t cut it!
