Woman’s Death on Freeway Is Investigated
A woman was killed early Monday by a possible hit-and-run driver on the San Diego Freeway, authorities said.
A witness reported that Mala Keo, 49, of Westminster may have been run over by a big-rig about 5:30 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway at the Edwards Street overpass, said California Highway Patrol Officer Douglas Kondo. Authorities, who received several calls from motorists reporting Keo’s body on the freeway, said they didn’t know whether she had walked onto the freeway, leaped from the overpass or jumped from another vehicle.
The incident closed two lanes for more than three hours during the morning commute.
An investigation is underway, Kondo said.
