* Alex Churnside, Villa Park: Had two goals and drew seven ejections for the Spartans (13-4), ranked No. 3 in the Southern Section Division II coaches’ poll, in an 8-6 nonleague victory over host Lake Forest El Toro (8-6), No. 5 in Division I.

CROSS-COUNTRY

* Stephanie Felix, La Mirada: The sophomore out-dueled freshman Hillary Hayes of Huntington Beach Edison by 21 seconds, winning in 18 minutes 18 seconds in the girls’ race of the Charger Invitational at Fairview Regional Park in Costa Mesa. Edison won the team title with 27 points, followed by Anaheim Esperanza with 42.
