Early Morning Blaze at Motel Rousts Guests
A Friday morning fire at a motel near Disneyland forced 150 guests into other lodgings, authorities said.
The blaze at the Super 8 Motel on Disneyland Drive started about 1:50 a.m. when neon lights on the roof ignited flames that spread to the third floor, said Gloria Re, a supervisor with MetroNet Fire Dispatch.
The fire, which destroyed 18 units, was extinguished within 40 minutes, Re said. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries.
Of the 360 guests who were evacuated, 210 were allowed back while the others were sent to area hotels.
