Hurricane Rita Forces Schedule Adjustments

Rice and Houston postponed home games scheduled for Saturday, and Texas A&M; has pushed up its game against Texas State, in anticipation of Hurricane Rita reaching the Texas Gulf Coast this weekend.

The Aggies will play Texas State tonight instead of Saturday.

Rice was scheduled to play Navy, but on Wednesday the game was rescheduled for Oct. 22. Houston was to play Southern Mississippi on Saturday. No makeup date was announced, but school officials said they were looking at Nov. 12 or 13.

To make room, the Southern Methodist-Houston game originally scheduled for Nov. 12 was postponed to Nov. 19, when both teams have an open date.

The Golden Eagles play at Marshall on Nov. 8.

Southern Mississippi has already had a game against Tulane postponed by Hurricane Katrina.

Jared Zabransky rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another, and Boise State extended the nation’s longest home winning streak to 26 games with a 48-20 victory over Bowling Green.

The Broncos’ defense frustrated Bowling Green quarterback Omar Jacobs into one of his worst games since he became the starter at the beginning of the 2004 season.

Jacobs completed 18 of 36 passes for 220 yards, including 71 in the fourth quarter. He had never completed less than 58% of his passes, and his career low in yardage, 218, came in his first start at Oklahoma.

Zabransky was 16 of 23 for 202 yards for the Broncos (1-2). Bowling Green is 1-2.

Utah plays its first game since a team-record 18-game winning streak was snapped when it plays host tonight to Air Force (2-1).

The Utes (2-1) are coming off a 23-20 loss at Texas Christian in overtime.
