From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Journalists at the Santa Barbara News-Press said they filed a petition Thursday with the National Labor Relations Board asking for an election that would grant them representation by the Graphic Communications Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

Reporters at the newspaper want union representation because they said owner Wendy McCaw and her top managers have improperly meddled in the content of the newspaper -- a dispute that has led to the resignation of 13 editors and reporters over the last month.
